Kakopetria, approximately 700 metres above the sea, is a popular summer resort and a rich fruit growing village. There are two parts; the original, medieval settlement, steep and stony, and the modern resort with shops, cafés, banks and even a public swimming pool.
There are numerous ancient frescoed churches nearby (Aghios Nicolaos Tis Stegis and Panayia Tis Podithou). Nicosia and Limassol are 50 km away. Kakopetria is an ideal centre for walking activities.
