Itinerary
Day 1 (Sunday):
Check in at London Heathrow airport for departure to Yerevan. Arrive in Yerevan and transfer to the Hotel Marriott Armenia
 
Day 2 (Monday): After breakfast, full day sightseeing tour of Yerevan including Erebuni. Lunch will be taken in a local restaurant. Overnight at the Hotel Marriott Armenia.
 
Day 3 (Tuesday): After breakfast, full day tour west to the ancient monastery, churches and museum complex of Echmiadzin and Zvarnots, the seat of the Supreme Patriarch-Catholicos of all Armenians. Built in 303AD, the cathedral is a masterpiece of Armenian classical architecture and considered to be one of the world’s earliest Christian churches. The Sardarapat Memorial celebrating the Armenian victory over the Turkish invaders in 1918 will also be visited. Lunch will be taken in a local restaurant. Overnight at the Hotel Marriott Armenia.
 
Day 4 (Wednesday): After breakfast, full day tour to the unique 1st century Temple at Garni and the spectacular 4th-13th century cave monastery of Geghard, considered by many to be superior to that of Petra in Jordan. Lunch will be taken in a local restaurant. Overnight at the Hotel Marriott Armenia.

Day 5 (Thursday): After breakfast, full day tour north to Lake Sevan at 1900 metres above sea level with a visit to the 9th century Sevan Monastery. Continue to the beautiful mountainous region of Dilijan and a visit to the romantic setting of the 11th century Monastery of Haghartsin. Lunch will be taken in a local restaurant. Overnight at the Hotel Marriott Armenia.

 

Day 6 (Friday): After breakfast, full day excursion to the monasteries of Khor Virap and Noravank. Khor Virap is considered to be one of the most romantically situated monasteries in Armenia with views across a vast plain to Turkey and the twin peaks of Mount Ararat. The 12th century complex of Noravank will also be visited. Lunch will be taken in a local restaurant. Overnight at the Hotel Marriott Armenia.

 

Day 7 (Saturday): Full day excursion to the historical monuments of Haghpat and Sanahin, set amidst the forest-clad hills of Alaverdi. The monuments, dating from the 10th and13th centuries, are classified as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Lunch will be taken in a local restaurant. Overnight at the Hotel Marriott Armenia.

 

Day 8 (Sunday): Day at leisure in Yerevan. Free time to visit the enormous and fascinating weekend open-air Vernisage market in the centre of Yerevan. Overnight at Hotel Marriott Armenia and dinner at a local restaurant.

 

Day 9 (Monday): Transfer to the airport for flight back to the UK.
