Snow shoes
This two hour guided excursion by snow shoe will take you into the countryside surrounding Kiruna where you will tread through the soft blanket of snow to a kåta, a Sami-style wooden hut. Here you will be served a traditional snack of Gáhkku – a soft Sami flatbread – with sliced reindeer steak and Västerbotten cheese (a vegetarian option is available) accompanied by tea, coffee and lingonberry juice. Return to Kiruna.

Dog-sled tour
This three hour guided, dog sled tour departs from Kiruna and tours around the countryside surrounding the town. The tour rests in a Sami-style tepee, and guests are served a snack of homemade bread, local specialities and coffee around an open fire. Return to Kiruna.

Visit the ICEHOTEL by Snowmobile
This five hour guided snowmobile excursion departs from Kiruna and traverses frozen lakes, marshlands and forests on its way to Jukkasjärvi and the ICEHOTEL. On arrival you will enjoy a guided tour of the hotel and lunch at the ICEHOTEL restaurant before returning through the enchanting winter landscape to Kiruna.
Price: £195 per adult. £98 per child (aged 2-12 years)

Elk safari by snowmobile
This six hour guided snowmobile excursion departs from Kiruna (collecting the snowmobiles at Laukkuluspa – 30 minutes transfer) and journeys towards the majestic mountains which form the backdrop for the countryside to the west of the town. The tour will pass the areas where elks spend their time in winter before continuing to the summit of Laukkuluspa, from where there is a wonderful mountainous panorama to Kebnekaise on a clear day.
The tour includes a stop at a kåta, a Sami-style wooden hut where you will be served lunch in front of an open fire. Return to Laukkuluspa by snowmobile and on to Kiruna by car.

Ice fishing
This six hour guided excursion departs from Kiruna and travels by car to the village of Laukkuluspa, approximately 30 minutes drive west of the town. From here, you will enjoy a short snowmobile tour (c. 30mins) along the side of the River Kalix into the surrounding mountains. Sightings of elk and reindeer are possible en route.
On arrival at the frozen lake, you will receive an introduction into ice fishing and provided with all the necessary equipment to try the sport. Sit back on a reindeer hide on the ice and wait for the fish – Grayling and Braun trout – to bite. Any fish caught will be cooked for lunch. If you are unlucky to catch a fish, a Lappish lunch will be served in front of an open fire. Return to Laukkuluspa by snowmobile and on to Kiruna by car.

Northern Light tours:
The natural phenomenon of the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights can be seen in the skies above the Arctic Circle during the winter months. Caused by particles from the sun interacting with atoms in the Earth’s upper atmosphere, the Northern Lights take many forms and colours as they dance across the sky – a wondrous sight.
From Kiruna we have two Northern Light excursions available.
1. A two hour, guided tour by snowcat will take you to the mountain of Luossavaara, the highest point in Kiruna, from where there is the possibility of seeing the magical Aurora Borealis. Return to Kiruna.
2. A five hour, guided excursion will take you by car to Abisko (100km west of Kiruna – c. 1 hour 15mins) where a chair lift (c. 20mins) will transport you to the Aurora Sky Station. The station has a café and an extensive exhibition about the Aurora Borealis created by the Institute of Space Physics in Kiruna. Return to Kiruna.
Note: The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings can not be guaranteed.
