Kakopetria, approximately 700 metres above the sea, is a popular summer resort and a rich fruit growing village. There are two parts; the original, medieval settlement, steep and stony, and the modern resort with shops, cafés, banks and even a public swimming pool.
There are numerous ancient frescoed churches nearby (Aghios Nicolaos Tis Stegis and Panayia Tis Podithou). Nicosia and Limassol are 50 km away. An ideal centre for walking.
